DIT PRIDE Book group - Rainbow Milk: A Discussion with Paul Mendez

Event details

This event has already taken place.

As part of the Civil Service ‘Pride On’, DIT LGBT+ network has launched a new ‘Re-defining normal’ book group. This month, to coincide with Pride we will be reading Rainbow Milk, a debut novel by Paul Mendez.

Recently described by the Guardian as a ‘ground-breaking first novel’ Rainbow Milk is a semi-auto biographical novel that follows the journey of a young, black man fleeing his windrush and religious family roots to explore life as a sex worker in London. Touching on inter-sectional themes such as race, religion and sexuality, Rainbow Milk is a bold transgression of this generations norms

Join our final discussion on Tuesday 30th June at 5pm for a live Q&A with Paul - for any questions about his experiences writing the book and for a broad discussion about how we as Civil Servants approach LGBT and Race issues within our Departments.

If you a Civil Servant, are part of the LGBTQIA community or are simply interested in exploring queer concepts and counter cultural perspectives this group is for you!
