Dating Experiences as Q-POC
This event has already taken place.
Join the Civil Service LGBT+ Network as we discuss the ongoing issues when it comes to queer people of colour dating in the community.
Continuing on from the celebrations of Black History month and the overwhelmingly popular event on ‘Racism in the LGBTQ+ Community’, the Civil Service LGBT+ Network and the Civil Service Race Forum welcome all to join part 2 of this educational discussion.
Our diverse panellist of civil servants openly share their experiences dating as QPOC in a conflicting time where its preference versus prejudice.
The group will discuss how dating apps and technology have created a virtual world of further discrimination that continues to fail in protecting our identities, and whether there should be stricter guidelines to tackle racial intolerance online.
Our speakers will also be exploring how BLM has become an integral part of social media / dating apps, and whether individuals who use this do so as a fetish over a race or whether they have a genuine concern to actively show allyship to marginalised groups in the LGBTQ+ community.
This session will be hosted on Microsoft Teams. Please sign up via the link above on Eventbrite. A link to join the event will be shared no later than two hours before the start of the event. Please add this event to your calendar in advance.
