Hiya, I’m Harvey! Originally, I’m from Lincoln, before going on to study Biomedical Sciences at the University of York. After leaving my small village, I moved to Manchester to join the Department for Education, knowing only one person in the city.
That was until, on my ninth day in the Civil Service, I attended my first monthly Manchester Civil Service LGBT+ Social. I’ve made so many incredible friends through these socials, so I know how important these spaces are for helping people meet and network with fellow civil servants.
I believe building and empowering a community is absolutely essential, no matter who you are. Alongside my role in the Civil Service LGBT+ Network, I am also Co-Chair of the Department for Education’s Young People Network, where I help young people develop the skills and connections they need for a fulfilling and successful career.
Outside of work, I adore travelling both within the UK and abroad, and I usually have a handful of trips in the works. I also love playing board games (Ticket to Ride and Catan are particular favourites), trying out new recipes, going on hikes, learning about history, and watching all sorts of films at the cinema.
I’m always happy to meet anyone who is intrigued and show them the vibrant community that the North West has to offer. Whether you’re new to the Civil Service, new to the region, or simply looking to expand your network, I’d love to meet you at one of our events. I hope to see you at an event soon!’
