Hi, I’m Ian. Originally from Hartlepool, I’ve now called Salford home for 15 years and I’m proud to be part of the community here. In 2025, I was honoured to be named Salford Citizen of the Year for my volunteer work, which meant a great deal to me and is something I’ll always be proud of.
I’m currently a Service Support Manager for HMCTS. My role focuses on supporting people and services to run effectively, while also helping to create an environment where everyone feels included, valued, and heard. That balance is what I enjoy most about the job and it’s what keeps it rewarding.
I’m a big believer in inclusion and the value of learning from one another. Being visible, leading by example, and helping to create a space where people feel comfortable being themselves really matters to me. I’ve been actively involved in both the SPIRIT and HMCTS Pride networks, and I’m keen to build on that by getting involved on a wider scale. I’m especially looking forward to connecting with people across the country, sharing ideas, and strengthening that sense of community.
A random fact about me, I’m a huge Jane McDonald fan. I even went on the Jane McDonald holiday in Rhodes with a group of superfans. It honestly felt like a once in a lifetime trip. She performed on four nights and, with such a strong LGBT plus presence, it had a real Pride like atmosphere. I still remember watching her on The Cruise when I was younger, which is now back on iPlayer if anyone fancies a bit of nostalgia.
At home, I’m also a very proud cat dad to Keith and Colin, who definitely keep life interesting.
